This is my custom action figure section. This is my newest hobby. I find it very relaxing and a better creative outlet then building regular gundam models. There is also the fact that getting a custom figure made is pretty costly better to do it yourself anyway's. And they really are a killer gift. I am going to post a few of my favorite links at the bottom of this page. I especially recommend Joe Acevedo's site.

My very first custom was the Batjew figure. I based it on a drawing that Mike from Penny Arcades drew up for Sascha. I also used that image for the box which you can see in some of the photos. This figure was a lot of trial and error on my part. I reviewed a lot of forums but, couldn't get the recommended materials in Canada. So I made due with what I could get at the Home Depot and Michael's.
The base of the body was a Joker figure from McFarlane's Akira series. I used sand paper and a Dremel to smooth everything out and take off parts that I didn't like (exp: the suspenders) then used the clay products I had on hand to rebuild the tummy and reshape the boots/legs/arms and neck. I tried fimo for the utility belt but boiling it didn't work for me and I was worried that it would change too much in the oven so I ended up using plumbers self hardening clay to make both the belt and the add on's and left them to dry.
After letting it set I used fine sandpaper to smooth everything back out again. I was lucky enough to come upon a great tool set for carvers with fine metal files this helped a whole lot with some of the edges around the utility belt and bat ears. I used a regular matte primer to ready it for painting. I used craft paint for this guy, and topped it off with a few coats of sealer. The first image is really shiny due to the sealer being wet.
As for the box I reused the Joker box and recovered it in some images I played with in Photoshop. Batjews accessories are made out of fimo and hard plastic. He is holding his paddle in most of the shots.

I am currently working on a Tank Girl custom. I am using again a McFarlane base the Naomi Armitage. I am still smooting her out to be ready for the second application of clay. I will post up some progress images later this month. I am hoping she turns out really well. If so I want to atempt a Harley Quinn or Delirium from the Gaiman series.
